As you might imagine, we at Team Surra Outdoors regularly pack up our gear and travel to remote locations in search of the best hunting and fishing in Pennsylvania and her neighboring states. That is why I was so excited to recently drive a brand new Chevy Silverado 2500HD 4WD LTZ Crew Cab Diesel. It was so loaded with luxuries and conveniences that I almost forgot I was driving a heavy duty utility vehicle to the banks of the Lake Erie tributaries, affectionately known to its frequent visitors as, “Steelhead Alley.” Loyal readers may have already read our post Winter in Steelhead Alley.
The Silver Ice Metallic beast was decked out with everything from a sunroof to heated leather seats yet still maintained the dependable ruggedness you can expect from Chevy – like its 6.6 Duramax Diesel engine, a trailering package, and the Z71 Off-Road suspension package. This combination is capable of towing 17,800 lbs. and left me feeling like I could have ripped my house out of the ground and taken it along to Erie.
The Silverado’s 36 gallon gas tank allows for 680 miles between fill-ups and gives every outdoorsmen the ability to reach the most remote hunting and fishing locations. This Chevy gave us the fuel economy needed to make our trip on one tank of gas and was spacious enough for 4 avid steelhead enthusiasts and the overabundance of gear commonly known to follow any fisherman dumb enough to take a credit card into a tackle shop. We had our rods and gear in the bed and sat comfortably in the lap of luxury provided by the Silverado’s crew cab — with room to spare.
The Chevy Silverado is the Team Surra Outdoors vehicle of choice for any rugged outdoor adventure. Hunting and fishing the Pennsylvania Wilderness, the Canadian bush, and Colorado’s Rocky Mountains requires a truck tough enough to tackle all types of terrain. The Chevy Silverado will not disappoint with its power, durability, and versatility.
